A Big V for the WG!
First the Keri Lotion on RR....none
Then the Skinny Cow...none
THEN the colgate toothpaste..none
and finially the crest+scope toothpaste...NONE!
At this point I've about had it with the Stillwater walgreens not having anything. I asked one of the managers if they had anything i wanted in stock and he informed me that they didnt get ANY of the colgate or crest or keri lotion in. So i left walgreens aggrivated and annoyed. How are we suspose to shop there when they dont even get the products in thats in the weekly circular? Its not even that some crazy coupon lady has come and cleared the shelf, its that they didnt get ANY!
So anyways, today i decided enough was enough and I called WG corporate customer service and informed them of my issue. No more than 3 hours later I got a call from Mike one of the managers at the SW WG following up with me on my corporate call. He was very friendly and understanding and appologized for the lack of inventory. He told me he DID get some of the items in today and was holding them in the back for me. He said sometimes when sales are so popular they dont always get in the products since the warehouse is streatched thin, and what they do get in, usually goes as soon as they put in on the shelf. He did say they get shipments on tuesday and wednesdays so after that is the best time to find things, and if your looking for something specific, call and ask them to hold it for you. (as long as its not a CRAZY amount)
While I had him on the phone I wanted to ask some questions about their coupon policy just to verify.
- if you have a single item that you use (1) Manufacture Coupon and (1) Walgreens coupon it only counts as (1) coupon
- if you have a coupon that is a BOGO coupon that counts a (2) coupons
- if you have a coupon that states $ off more than 1 item, however many items you need for the coupon, thats how many coupons its counted as.....example "$2/3 items" counts as (3) coupons.
- and a Register Reward counts as a manufacture coupon against your transaction
So always have the same number or more items than coupons. i like to grab the $.15 laffy taffy. it seems to be the cheapest thing in the store.
So i want to say thanks to Mike from Walgreens in Stillwater for following up with me and just say dont be afraid to voice your concerns to store because it can pay off!

Wal-Mart Price Matching
According to Wal-Marts price matching policy- they'll match any local competitors price right at the register and you do not need to have the ad in order to get the price. But IT IS up to that stores manager to deem what "local" is. So some stores may vary on who they'll PM.
So it may be just stores in Stillwater, or the surrounding areas. I've been told by a CSM at the Wal-Mart on Perkins that they'll price match up to a 50 mile radius, so for us Stillwater people, that includes the Target in Edmond, the CVS in Edmond and the Homelands in Perry and Guthrie. Now this could vary by store/how educated or nice your cashier is so don't quote me on this.
What I like to do is gather up all the ads for the week (grocery store ad come out on wednesday and target, cvs, walgreens on sunday) Then circle or make a list of what deals I want and what coupons i have for them...heres an example of what i did this week....
Price Match
Target Ad
· Nicole by OPI nail polish $6.50
Use $1.00/1 coupon
= $5.50
Homeland
· Lawrys Marinade 2/$3
Use $1.00 off MC
= .50 each
· Cascadian Farms Granola Bars 2/$5
Use $.75 off (1) MC
= $ 1.75 each
· International Delight Coffee Creamer $1.99
Use $.55 off MC
= $1.44
· Pillsbury French Bread Loaf, Breadsticks or Pizza $2.89
Use $.40 off 1 MC
= $2.49 each
· Hefty Trash Bags $5.59
· Healthy Choice Steamers 2/$5
· Frito Lay Chips/Pretzels 3/$6
· SnackWells Bars $2.29
Use $.75 off 1 MC
= $1.54
· Daisy Sour Cream $2.79
· Hormel Pepperoni $2.99
Use .55 off (2) MC
= $5.43/2 or $2.72 each
CVS
· Filippo Berio Olive Oil $3.99
Use $1.00 off MC
= $2.99
Food Pyramid
· Tide 24-32 oz liquid detergent $5.99
Use $1.00 off any Tide MC
=$4.99
· Healthy Choice Entrees $1.99
· Toufayan Pita Bread $1.69
· Sabra Hummus $3.69
· Laughing Cow Baby Bell Cheese $3.49
This obviously isn't everything that was in their ads, only the ones I found i wanted/had coupons for.
Whenever I'm shopping I make sure to keep everything I'm price matching separate in my cart so its easier when i get up to check out.
and now for the fun part....how to PM at the register.
Once I get to the register, I put everything up first that DO need price matching then put up the items that DO NOT (i'm sure you could reverse this order as long as you keep them separate) I find puting the PM items first is better for me because the cashier hasn't gotten too overwhelmed yet and I can pay attention to what their scanning better.
Since WM DOES NOT require you to have the ad with you to PM all i do is tell the cashier which items I'm PM and when they scan the item i say what the PM is. Like for example today when i bought the Lawrys Marinade, WM reg. price is $2.00 and homeland had them on sale 2/$3. I let the cashier know they were 2/$3 or $1.50 and she manually override the price. No questions asked. I think if you say some bogus price they'll probably get suspicious but I havent any issues with it yet. and YES YOU CAN PM AND USE A COUPON!! like for the Lawrys items I purchased 4, PM to $1.50 each and had 4 $1.00 off coupons. So PM and coupons saved me $6.00 on the marinades.
Price matching is great for many reasons, you dont have to drive from store to store to get the best prices and IF a PM is less than a coupon WM will give you the overage. For example last week dollar general had Zyrtec 5ct on sale for $4.50 and i had a $5.00 coupon, i PM at WM, used the coupon and got the Zyrtec for FREE + $.50 overage!
WM will also PM produce from other stores which is great b/c usually smaller stores have cheaper produce. You just have to make sure you are PM item-item and lb-lb.
And there are A LOT of times when i'll make my PM list and get to WM and realize WM prices are still lower than the PM from another store.
It might seem like a lot of work but I work full time and find ways to do it, just comit to youself that AS SOON as you get the ads, you'll circle or write down the items that interst you and that way you'll have them and can prepare your shopping trip.
If you still feel hesitant about it, take the ads in with you and talk to a CSM or SM and see what their policy is and ALWAYS have the WM coupon & PM policy with you, its gotten me some great deals!

Cascade Trial Packs $.97

thats a 71% savings! and i had NO issues at the Cash Register! Thats a reason to celebrate in itself!

Wal Mart Shopping Trip and My 2nd attempt at the Target Catalinas!
heres what my shopping trip consisted of....
Price Matched items-
(4) Coca-Cola Brand Products $1.00 (priced match to consumers ad)
-MC $2.00 off any (2) Coca-Cola Products when you buy (2) Nabisco Products (as I looked at my receipt the cashier failed to take off this coupon which is annoying since that would have made for 2 free liter cokes.)
(2) Diggiornio Pizzas 2/$10 (price matched to consumers ad)
(4) WhoNu Cookies $2.78
(1) $1.00 off coupons
(2) B1G1 free coupons
=$3.56/4 or .89 each
(3) Dole Fruit Bites $2.98 each
(3) MC $ 1.00 off 1
= $5.94/3 or $1.98 each
1 Wal-Mar Brand Torilla Chips $1.48
Kikkomann Soy Sauce $1.72
MC $1.00 off 1
= $.72
Instant Oatmeal $1.42
(6) Old El Paso Taco Seasonings $.78
(2) MC $.60 off 3
=$3.48/6 or .58 each
(2) Nabisco Weatthins $2.50 each
MC $1.00 off 2
= $4.00/2 or $2.00 each
(3) Revlon Nail Clippers $1.42
(1) Target Catalina $2.00 off any 1 revlon tool
(1) Target Catalina $5.00 off any 2 revlon tools
= FREE + $2.74 Credit! (I'll explain how i got them to FINALLY accept these)
(3) Weber Grill Seasonings $2.58
(3) MC $1.00 off any 1
= $4.74/3 or $1.58 each
My subtotal was $62.56 and i paid $40.36 OOP so a total savings of $22.20. I would have saved ANOTHER $2.00 if i noticed my coke+nabisco coupon hadn't scanned.
But in regards to the nail clippers, i stood firm with the cashier and the Customer Service Manager (different one from before) and showed them Wal-Marts official coupon policy where it describes Catalinas. He was hesitiant at first and kept saying it wasn't the same but finally after reading it and looking at the coupon he said i was right, and that he now knows what a catalina is. (So glad your CSM knows your policies-insert sarcasm)

Always Check your Reciept! -Walgreens
Unfortunatly they were out of the toothpaste that was on sale so we picked up a few other things. this is how my transaction(s) played out.
Trans #1
(2) Scrunci Hair ties Sale 2/$3
+#RR for next purchase
=$3 + $3 RR
Trans #2
(4) 3 Musketeers Truffle Crisp Bars Sale $.49
(9) Trident vitality Gum packs Sale $.79
(2) Skinny Cow Cluster Snacks Sale 2/$1.79
(1) Laffy Taffy $.15
=$11.18 (w/tax) before coupons
Coupons-
(2) $.50 off (2) 3 Musketeers bars
(3) $.200 off (3) Trident packs
(1) B1G1Free Skinny Cow snacks
$3.00 RR from trans #1
Well when my transaction was first rang up, my total was $5.32 which seemed high to me and the cashier said he scanned all of my coupons so i went with it. But when i went outside and examined my reciept, he fail to scan (2) of my $2.00 off coupons and (1) .50 off coupons. So i went back inside, they voided my 2nd transaction and re-rang everything up and my total OOP was $.98! Much better!
Moral of the story-check your reciept before you leave! its easier to fix if they've still got easy access to your coupons and remeber what you've bought.
I'm going to try going back today at lunch to see if they've re-stocked the sale toothpaste and get more 3 musketeer bars! I'm sure the walgreens people will be happy to see me :)

Pupalup
While Groupon and those others are great, more of the time the deals are for OKC or Tulsa and its not always the most convenient for those in Stillwater. Pupalup is great because it offers deals for Stillwater and the surrounding areas of Payne county. There is also an option for Bartlesville,OK to receive deals.
There have been deals for various resturants, wedding invitations and massages.
I just got an email today for a great deal for Koyoto Japanese Resturant $10 for $20 worth of food! You can use it on sushi or hibachi,

The Beginning
I got a job working full time at a local car dealership and began trying to survive in the "real world"
I think at first, i was still under the delusion that i could come and go and spend how i'd liked. But soon i realized I had to pump the brakes and start being a little smarter with my money.
I've never been the type to really "save" as in not go out and spend money so i knew cutting off wasn't going to work for me. My (now) fiance Dustin and are are the types that like to go out and do things and i don't want to have to say no to something because i don't want to spend money. So i've decided the best way to do/buy what we want and save money is with coupons! I've become hooked on finding coupons for anything-food,beauty supplies, dog stuff, clothes, shoes anything. if i want to buy it i need to have a coupon!
I don't believe in depriving yourself and with coupons you don't have to. With this blog i hope to spotlight some great deals around Stillwater and the Oklahoma area.
So here we go!
